Drain Jetting Services In South West London

What is Drain Jetting?

Drain jetting is also known as high pressure water jetting or hydro jetting, and as the name suggests, it simply involves using a high pressure jet of water to clear drains of blockages. It's very similar to using a pressure washer to wash a car only much more powerful. The equipment used comprises a large capacity water tank and a large compressor pump driven by a powerful engine. A high pressure hose fitted with nozzle attachments completes the setup. A hose is fed into the drain and a jet of water, at up to around 5000 psi, is then discharged into the system clearing away the blockage and washing it down into the sewer. Our Swiss made nozzles are shown in this picture.

Why Use Drain Jetting?

Sometimes drainage pipes can become blocked or clogged with grease and fats, disposable towelling products, tree roots and general waste. A rod can clear a passage through the blockage but will leave stubborn deposits of debris, which have built up over many months or even years, firmly fixed around the sides of the pipe walls. This residue can in time be responsible for further blockages developing within the drainage pipes. A high intensity jet of water will blast away all the deposits from the pipe walls leaving a clear passageway for the disposal of waste water. Water also has the ability to work around bends and angles in pipework, making it a much more effective remedy than rods.

How Long Does Drain Jetting Take?

Depending on the extent of the blockage, the drain jetting process itself is generally a straight-forward task but where there might be several drainage arteries or branches involved, finding the actual location of the blockage can sometimes be a problem. Should this be the case, the blockage can be located by inserting a CCTV camera into the drain until the problem is found and then effectively dealt with. The CCTV camera can also be used for drainage pipe and sewer inspections and surveys, which can be very useful in determining whether a jetting operation is advisable before any costly problems arise.

Is Drain Jetting Guaranteed To Work?

Drain jetting will clear on average 99% of all blockages and because the water jetting process is so powerful, virtually all internal debris will be thoroughly cleared away. With completely clean and clear drainage pipes, further drain blockages are very unlikely. However, for peace of mind, the Hamilton Group fully guarantees all drain jetting works undertaken by them.
